So here's the story. Maura had an ultrasound yesterday and we asked the woman to keep the gender reading secret and write in on a piece of paper and put it in a sealed envelope. Maura then took it to a local bakery this morning and ordered a cake for Luke's birthday. She asked them to put pink or blue frosting on the inside of the cake depending on what was in the envelope. So at the point when we started to cut the cake no one knew what we were having. I thought for sure we were going to have another boy, but when Luke wished for a girl - I just knew what the color of the frosting was going to be! The build up to dessert during Luke's party was a lot of fun for all of our family members who were there...a lot of cake peeking. Luke's cousin Grace was especially excited to learn that after 2 brothers and 2 boy cousins (on our side), she will now have another girl to team up with!!!

What an awesome idea and moment! Love Luke's reaction!
Such a great memory captured! Yay for a little girl to join the mix-congrats guys :)
so awesome. congrats!
Congratulations!! What a great way to find out what you are having!!!
We would never be able to wait until the birth to find out, so we thought this would be a good way to still get a nice surprise. (All Maura's idea!) The timing was perfect with Luke's birthday. If we had to hold on to that sealed envelope any longer then 1 night, I think I definitely would have broken. Thanks for all of the comments.
